DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo: One Battery vs Three

For most first-time buyers, the DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo with three batteries is the better value. Both Fly More versions include the same Avata 2, DJI Goggles 3, and DJI RC Motion 3. The three-battery package adds two flight batteries, the Two-Way Charging Hub, and a sling bag. Those additions make a larger practical difference than they would on a slower camera drone because FPV practice and repeated filming runs consume a single battery quickly.

Choose the single-battery combo only when minimizing the upfront cost matters most, you expect short and occasional flights, or the three-battery premium is unusually high. The aircraft, camera, goggles, motion controller, assisted flight modes, and image quality are otherwise identical.

Quick bundle verdict

Best for most buyers

Fly More Combo with three batteries. It provides more practice time, includes the faster charging hub, and gives the complete goggles kit a practical carrying solution.

Lowest upfront cost

Fly More Combo with one battery. It is a complete flying package, but charging through the aircraft and waiting between sessions can become restrictive.

Best for learning

Three batteries. Repetition matters when learning motion control, framing low-altitude lines, and building confidence without rushing the final minutes of one pack.

Important hidden cost

Neither Fly More version includes DJI FPV Remote Controller 3. Add it separately if your goal is traditional two-stick control and Manual mode.

Best one-line rule: If the three-battery premium is lower than the current cost of two genuine batteries plus the charging hub, buy the three-battery combo.

Research basis: This is a research-based bundle comparison, not a hands-on test of the supplied packages. Official contents, battery specifications, charging behavior, controller compatibility, and current availability context were checked against DJI documentation on July 24, 2026. Prices change too quickly to hardcode responsibly, so the guide focuses on the hardware difference and a repeatable way to compare current listings.

DJI Avata 2 combo comparison: one battery vs three

The original Fly More Combo decision is simpler than the similar names suggest. Both packages supply the equipment needed for the same assisted immersive flight experience. The three-battery version adds endurance and charging convenience, not a better aircraft or display.

DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo differences
Feature Single-battery combo Three-battery combo Why it matters
DJI Avata 2 Included Included The aircraft and camera are identical
DJI Goggles 3 Included Included No display-quality difference between these two packages
DJI RC Motion 3 Included Included Both support the same intuitive motion-control experience
Flight batteries One Three Three packs provide up to three separate flight sessions before recharging
Two-Way Charging Hub Not included Included The hub charges faster than the aircraft and manages three packs in sequence
DJI Sling Bag Not included Included Provides one carrying solution for the drone, goggles, controller, batteries, and hub
FPV Remote Controller 3 Not included Not included Traditional two-stick control and Manual mode require a separate purchase
Source basis: DJI's official Avata 2 package pages and specifications, checked July 24, 2026. Listings differ by region, and retailer-created packages may not match the original factory contents.

The shared accessories are also broadly the same: spare propellers and screws, gimbal protector, Goggles 3 padding and corrective-lens accessories, USB-C cables, the RC Motion 3 lanyard, and a screwdriver. The commercial decision therefore comes down to two extra batteries, the hub, and the bag.

A higher-priced combo does not improve flight performance.

Both versions use the same 377 g Avata 2, 1/1.3-inch sensor, 4K/60 fps capability, 155-degree maximum field of view, single-axis tilt gimbal, electronic stabilization, O4 transmission, and downward and backward visual positioning.

If you are still deciding whether the aircraft is worth owning, read the full DJI Avata 2 review before paying for more batteries. This page assumes Avata 2 is already the right platform and focuses only on which package makes the better purchase.

How to compare the current DJI Avata 2 combo price

The three-battery package is not automatically the better deal at every current price. Old inventory, renewed units, regional packages, and third-party sellers can create wide gaps. Compare complete, like-for-like listings rather than relying on the largest discount badge.

  1. Confirm the goggles. The original Fly More comparison uses DJI Goggles 3, not Goggles N3, Goggles 2, or Goggles Integra.
  2. Confirm the controller. Both packages should include DJI RC Motion 3. Do not assume the separate DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is in the box.
  3. Count genuine Avata 2 batteries. The three-battery package should contain three DJI Avata 2 Intelligent Flight Batteries in total.
  4. Look for the hub and bag. Those are part of the original three-battery Fly More package and absent from the single-battery version.
  5. Match condition and seller. New, refurbished, renewed, open-box, and used listings do not provide equivalent battery condition or support.

Effective three-battery premium

Current three-battery combo price minus the current single-battery combo price.

Compare that premium with the current cost of two genuine Avata 2 batteries plus the Two-Way Charging Hub. If the package premium is lower, the three-battery combo wins before assigning any value to the sling bag.

If the bundle premium is higher, decide whether the bag and one-box convenience justify the remainder. If you need only one additional battery, a single-battery combo plus one separately purchased pack can produce a lower total, but you will still charge through the aircraft unless you also buy the hub.

Do not assign full retail value to unwanted extras

The three-battery bundle is valuable because its additions address real Avata 2 limitations. That does not mean every seller-added accessory deserves its claimed price. Generic landing pads, memory-card readers, propeller holders, and cleaning kits should count only when you would have purchased them separately.

Check the current DJI Avata 2 combo options

Verify the goggles, controller, battery count, charging hub, bag, seller, condition, and regional support before comparing the final price.

Is one DJI Avata 2 battery enough?

One battery is enough to activate the complete system, learn the basic controls, and fly a short session. DJI rates Avata 2 for up to approximately 23 minutes of forward flight in controlled conditions and about 21 minutes of hovering. Real usable time is shorter after maneuvering, wind, temperature, system warnings, and a sensible landing reserve are included.

That difference matters because an immersive FPV session includes more than cruising. Time is consumed while taking off, orienting yourself, checking the route, practicing turns, repositioning for a shot, and returning with margin. New pilots also tend to pause and reset more often while learning.

One battery makes sense when

  • You want the lowest-cost complete Avata 2 setup.
  • You expect occasional flights rather than long practice days.
  • You can recharge between sessions and do not mind waiting.
  • You are unsure whether immersive FPV will become a regular hobby.
  • The three-battery package carries an unusually large scarcity premium.

Where the one-battery workflow becomes frustrating

The single-battery package does not include the charging hub, so the simplest charging path is through the aircraft's USB-C port. DJI specifies approximately 88 minutes from empty to full through the aircraft, or about 60 minutes from 10% to 90%, with suitable power. That is a long interruption after one relatively short FPV session.

The aircraft also becomes your charger. You cannot fly it, pack it away, or independently manage another pack while it is connected for charging. Adding a second battery helps flight time, but without the hub you must still charge the packs one at a time inside Avata 2.

The single-battery combo is therefore complete in the literal sense, but it is not the most flexible ownership setup. It works best as a deliberate budget choice, not as the default package for someone who already knows they will practice often.

Why three batteries change the Avata 2 experience

Three batteries raise DJI's ideal-condition cumulative maximum from approximately 23 minutes to 69 minutes across three separate flights. That is not an expectation of continuous real-world airtime, but it explains why the larger package feels different. You can fly, review what happened, adjust the route or camera, and try again without ending the outing.

More practice without rushing

FPV skills improve through repetition. A new pilot may spend the first battery learning RC Motion 3, judging braking distance, and becoming comfortable with the goggles. A second pack can be used to repeat turns or Easy ACRO maneuvers. A third leaves room for an intentional filming run after the controls feel familiar.

With one battery, it is easy to treat every minute as scarce. That can encourage a pilot to skip planning or continue flying later into the battery than is sensible. Extra packs do not replace good battery discipline, but they reduce the pressure to squeeze everything into one session.

Better for filming and shared use

Avata 2 is often purchased for immersive footage rather than simple cruising. Multiple batteries allow repeated takes, alternate lines, changes in camera settings, and recovery from a run that did not work. The benefit is especially clear for FPV drone videography, where one usable clip can require several careful attempts.

Three packs are also more practical when a friend or family member wants to try the assisted flight experience. Goggles setup, demonstrations, and cautious first movements consume time before each person starts flying confidently.

The bag is functional, not the main reason to upgrade

The sling bag solves a real packing problem because Avata 2 ownership includes the aircraft, Goggles 3, RC Motion 3, batteries, hub, cables, and spares. It is convenient to receive a fitted system in the same package. Still, the two extra batteries and hub should justify the premium before the bag is counted as a bonus.

How the DJI Avata 2 charging hub works

The Two-Way Charging Hub is more than a three-slot holder, but it is important to understand its charging logic. It charges up to three batteries in sequence, starting with the battery that has the highest remaining charge. It does not fully charge three packs simultaneously.

Official Avata 2 charging methods
Method 0% to 100% 10% to 90% Practical difference
Through Avata 2 Approximately 88 minutes Approximately 60 minutes Simple, but the aircraft is occupied while charging
Two-Way Charging Hub Approximately 45 minutes per battery Approximately 30 minutes per battery Faster per pack and automatically manages up to three in sequence
DJI measures hub charging with up to 60 W and direct aircraft charging with up to 30 W. Actual times depend on battery temperature, starting charge, charger, cable, and power-delivery negotiation.

Three fully depleted batteries would require roughly 135 minutes to reach full charge if each pack took DJI's stated 45 minutes and the hub processed them sequentially. That is a planning estimate, not a simultaneous-charge claim. In normal use, the starting levels differ, and the hub prioritizes the pack that can become flight-ready first.

Power accumulation can rescue leftover charge

When at least two batteries are inserted, the hub can move remaining energy from lower-charge packs into the battery with the highest charge. This power-accumulation feature cannot create more energy, and transfers involve losses, but it can consolidate scattered leftovers into one more useful pack.

The hub can also act as a power bank

With a battery installed, the hub can output power through USB-C to a phone, tablet, or goggles. That is helpful in the field, although preserving aircraft flight time will normally be more valuable than using the packs as general-purpose power.

A wall charger is still part of the cost check

DJI's official in-box lists show a USB-C PD cable but not a wall power adapter. DJI recommends its 65 W portable or car charger, or another compatible USB Power Delivery charger. If you do not already own a suitable adapter, include it in the effective purchase price of either combo.

What stays the same between both Fly More Combos

The one-battery and three-battery packages produce the same flight and image experience while a charged pack is installed. Neither version makes Avata 2 faster, safer, sharper, or more capable in Manual mode.

  • Same aircraft: Avata 2 with integrated propeller guards, Turtle mode, and downward and backward visual positioning.
  • Same camera: 1/1.3-inch sensor, 12 MP stills, up to 4K/60 fps video, 10-bit D-Log M, and RockSteady or HorizonSteady stabilization options.
  • Same goggles: DJI Goggles 3 with the same display, O4 link, and Real View picture-in-picture feature.
  • Same included controller: DJI RC Motion 3 for intuitive motion input and Easy ACRO.
  • Same safety limits: Visual positioning is not full obstacle avoidance. The pilot remains responsible for the route and surroundings.
  • Same storage: 46 GB of internal aircraft storage plus support for compatible microSD cards.

Neither combo includes the stick controller

DJI RC Motion 3 is designed to reduce the learning barrier. It is not the same control method as DJI FPV Remote Controller 3. Pilots who want conventional two-stick FPV input and Manual mode must budget for FPV Remote Controller 3 separately and practice before removing assisted safeguards.

This is not a reason to reject the Fly More packages. Motion 3 is the easier entry point for many buyers and one reason Avata 2 appears in our beginner FPV kit comparison. It is simply important not to interpret “Fly More” as “every controller included.”

Compatibility becomes more complex if you mix goggles and controller generations. The FPV goggles compatibility guide explains why buyers should verify the exact goggles and controller pairing rather than shopping by the DJI family name alone.

Hidden costs and DJI Avata 2 listing traps

Current Avata 2 inventory is less uniform than it was at launch. At the July 24, 2026 check, DJI's main U.S. store pages for the new Fly More packages were marked unavailable in the selected region, while batteries and some accessories still had separate listings. Marketplace inventory may therefore mix old new stock, renewed units, third-party bundles, and imported packages.

  • Verify new versus refurbished. Battery age and cycle history matter more in a multi-battery package than the cosmetic condition of the bag.
  • Check the exact goggles. Some newer “Fly Smart” packages use Goggles N3. That is a different bundle from the Goggles 3 Fly More packages compared here.
  • Confirm all three batteries are Avata 2 batteries. Original Avata batteries are not substitutes.
  • Require the hub in the three-battery listing. Three loose packs without the hub do not reproduce the official package workflow.
  • Inspect regional support. Confirm seller authorization, return terms, warranty coverage, firmware compatibility, and whether service coverage can be activated.
  • Check the charger. A USB-C cable is not a wall adapter, and low-power adapters will not deliver DJI's stated charging times.
  • Do not assume Manual mode is ready. FPV Remote Controller 3 is a separate accessory in both original Fly More versions.

Fly More and Fly Smart are not interchangeable names

Some markets now show Fly Smart packages with Goggles N3 in both one-battery and three-battery forms. The battery logic is similar, but the goggles and complete package value are different. Compare Goggles 3 with Goggles 3, or Goggles N3 with Goggles N3. A lower Fly Smart price is not proof that an otherwise identical Fly More package is cheaper.

Consider the product's remaining value, not only the accessory discount

DJI's specifications page lists guaranteed Avata 2 software updates through December 31, 2026. That date does not mean the drone stops working afterward, but buyers should avoid paying a severe scarcity premium for an older package without comparing its complete value with current alternatives. The broader best FPV drone guide can help if your real choice has expanded beyond Avata 2.

Which DJI Avata 2 combo should you buy?

First-time FPV buyer

Choose three batteries. The additional practice time and hub reduce downtime while you learn the goggles and motion controller.

Occasional recreational pilot

One battery can be enough if every flight will be short and you can recharge at home without needing another session.

FPV filmmaker or content creator

Choose three batteries. Repeated lines, alternate camera settings, and retakes make one pack too restrictive for most intentional shoots.

Budget-constrained but likely to expand

Compare the bundle premium carefully. If three batteries are out of reach, the one-battery package remains complete and can be expanded later.

Manual-mode learner

Three batteries are useful, but reserve additional budget for DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and simulator practice.

Current owner replacing only the aircraft

Do not buy either Fly More package automatically. Verify your existing goggles, controller, batteries, and firmware compatibility before comparing Drone Only options.

The decisive question is not whether three batteries are useful.

They are. The decision is whether the current package premium is lower than the price of the two batteries and hub you are likely to buy later.

Final verdict

Buy the DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo with three batteries unless you have a specific reason to minimize the initial price. It is the more complete ownership package because two extra batteries turn one short flight into a useful practice or filming session, while the charging hub cuts per-pack charging time and manages the set automatically.

The single-battery combo remains a legitimate complete kit. It includes the same Avata 2, Goggles 3, and RC Motion 3, so it does not sacrifice image quality or flight features. Its tradeoff is downtime. One pack and slower in-aircraft charging can make an expensive immersive system feel underused.

Compare current listings by exact hardware and condition. If the three-battery premium is lower than two genuine batteries plus the hub, the larger package is the clear value. If sellers are charging a scarcity premium, buy the single-battery version, add only what you need, or reconsider whether the current Avata 2 market still makes sense.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the one-battery and three-battery DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combos?

The three-battery version adds two DJI Avata 2 Intelligent Flight Batteries, the Two-Way Charging Hub, and a DJI Sling Bag. Both packages include the same Avata 2, Goggles 3, RC Motion 3, camera system, and core accessories.

Is one battery enough for DJI Avata 2?

One battery is enough for a short occasional flight, but it is restrictive for regular practice, multiple pilots, or filming. DJI's 23-minute figure is a controlled maximum, and usable real-world time is shorter after maneuvering and a safe return reserve.

How much flight time do three Avata 2 batteries provide?

DJI rates one battery for up to approximately 23 minutes, so three packs represent up to 69 minutes across three separate ideal-condition flights. This is not continuous time and should not be treated as a real-world endurance promise.

Does the Avata 2 charging hub charge three batteries at once?

No. The hub stores and manages three batteries but charges them sequentially, beginning with the pack that has the highest remaining charge. DJI specifies approximately 45 minutes from empty to full for one battery using the hub with suitable power.

Does the single-battery combo include the charging hub?

No. The original single-battery Fly More Combo does not include the Two-Way Charging Hub or sling bag. Avata 2 supports direct USB-C charging through the aircraft.

Does either Fly More Combo include DJI FPV Remote Controller 3?

No. Both original Fly More packages include DJI RC Motion 3. DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is a separate purchase for pilots who want traditional two-stick FPV control and Manual mode.

Is a wall charger included with the DJI Avata 2 combo?

DJI's official in-box lists show USB-C cables but do not list a wall power adapter. Confirm the specific retailer package and plan for a compatible USB Power Delivery charger if you do not already own one.

Should I buy a Fly More Combo or Fly Smart Combo?

Compare the complete hardware rather than the name. Original Fly More packages pair Avata 2 with Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3. Fly Smart packages in some regions use Goggles N3. Battery count can be similar, but the goggles and total package value are different.
